First up: The Owl Perch, "aka" the TV component storage system
This is what the corner of my room looked like before...cords, blank walls, YUCK.
A few months ago we moved the tv to above the fireplace which is usually a sin in my book but made the most sense for our small space. Problem was the 22 inch wall space to the left that had cords, no room for anything pretty.
This is how it looks now...no cords, pop of color and interest, organzied storage, MUCH BETTER
All thanks to this scary little guy (who was the exact and hard to find right size) that got a quick face-lift!
The cracked plexi glass, broken side doors, and horrific fake wood finish were all removed to make way for:
{Fabric lined back, a little hot glue is all it took}
{Linen wrapped shelves, hot glue did it again}
{fresh paint job in crisp and clean white}
By using materials I had and the $9.99 it took to buy that grungy display case I now have a neatly organized area to store all those tv components. I love that it adds some height to that corner of the room and provides some storage space for other little lovelies like my brass lotus bowl (which doubles as a remote holder) and favorite cookbooks. The mantle itself still needs some work but this small project really brought in a breath of fresh air.
You may have also noticed my other new addition to the living room - this fun striped ottoman. Originally purchased for the bargain basement price of $4 at local thrift store it takes on a whole new life with wide chocolate brown stripes, fresh coat of paint and nailhead trim.

Wow! I LOVE what you did to the cabinet....amazing. And that ottoman, I am SO jealous & totally inspired.
I LOVE your ottoman. I just recently bought a chair that I need to reupholster...but I am scared! This turned out so well. How did you put the buttons on?
